I have been guiding companies through the patent and design acquisition process for more than 20 years, whilst also helping navigate competitor rights. After being a Principal and Head of Business Development & Marketing at one of Australia’s large Tier 1 firms, I decided to join Hayden at Argon IP to fulfil my desire to be involved with all aspects of running an Intellectual Property firm, whilst remaining an active patent attorney who is people and client focused.

Over my career I have advised clients on patentability and infringement, prepared and prosecuted patent and design applications in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and internationally. I also have experience in opposing the grant of Australian patents and enforcing rights both in Australia and internationally. I have been involved in numerous due diligence projects, for investors, purchasers and companies looking for investment.

My undergraduate training in Product Design Engineering covered industrial design principles, including ergonomic design in relation to consumer and medical products. I have therefore established a reputation for my holistic strategy advice for protection, encompassing patent and design protection, and have managed some of the largest international registered design portfolios.

Outside of work, you will find me volunteering with Scouts as Leader in Charge of the local Venturer Unit. I enjoy mentoring young people to build their confidence and reach their full potential. I love being surrounded by the Australian bush, living in a bushland retreat with a Trust for Nature covenant where we are protecting the native habitat.

I have been helping companies and individuals obtain Intellectual Property protection in Australia and in other countries since 2002. I take pride in providing advice that is commercially focussed, and directly relates to my clients' current and future intentions.

Although I am passionate about the Intellectual Property field, I am at heart a Mechanical Engineer with an engineer's outlook on the world. My roots lie in rural Australia, where I grew up working on my family's sheep and cattle farm. Farming life gave me a love of science, nature, engineering and practical problem solving, which I have built on through many different career and life experiences.

After more than 15 years working with two of Australia's highly renowned patent attorney firms, I decided to establish Argon IP so that I can continue to provide clients with work of the highest quality, and form attorney-client relationships that build trust, and ensuring a premium and personal level of service on a cost effective basis. I have experience working with multinationals, universities and research institutions, specialist industrial design firms, small- and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, and entrepreneurs.

When I'm not at work, I spend my time with my family and friends, seeking new adventures (often on a bicycle), playing music, or on hands-on home improvement projects. Sometimes I even get to combine some of these activities.
